Opioid Response Training for Individuals
Developed by our curriculum specialists this self-paced program is for everyday Canadians.

Opioid Response Training for Individuals

Developed by our curriculum specialists, SJA training programs for individuals are built to educate everyday Canadians on opioid awareness and response. Through our training you’ll learn:

  • How to identify drug stigmatization and harm reduction
  • How to recognize opioids and their impact on the body
  • How to identify and respond to an opioid poisoning emergency
  • How to develop a self-care plan

Individuals can choose to take their free training in one of three formats:

E-learning course

This online course is self-led and self-paced, so you can learn at your preferred pace. Please note that no naloxone kits will be provided upon completion of the online, self-paced course.

Virtual, facilitator-led course

This virtual, facilitator-led course allows you to learn from one of SJA’s certified Opioid Poisoning Response Training facilitators who will take you through the course material in an online classroom. The course is approximately 120 minutes. Participants who complete the course will receive a free nasal naloxone kit.

In-person course at your nearest SJA council

You have the option to take Opioid Poisoning Response Training (OPRT) at any of our SJA councils across Canada, which allows you to learn material in a hands-on environment from one of SJA’s certified facilitators. Participants who complete the course will receive a free nasal naloxone kit.

You can register for an in-person OPRT course near you by contacting your local SJA council to make an appointment.
